Mike Moyer – He attended the University of Kansas for his college, then he got his master’s degree of integrated marketing communications at Northwestern University and another MBA degree from the University of Chicago. Mike is currently an American Entrepreneur, author, adjunct lecture at Northwestern University, and adjunct associate professor at the University of Chicago. One of his books, How to Make Colleges Want You (2008), gives students advice on how to make themselves stand out and increase the possibility of being accepted by their dream colleges. He is also very good at help students explore their true interests and turn them into the real programs, which will make student stand out in the applicants’ pool.

Willard M. DIX – He has worked at the University of Chicago Laboratory School as a College Counsel for almost 7 years. At Lab School he had about 70 advisees each year, not accounting other students who’d come in for college advice, so that would be about 420 kids just there. Over the last 10 years he has worked with hundreds of students at Chicago Scholars, charter schools, community organizations, and as a private counselor. Students he has advised have applied to and been accepted at a full range of U.S. colleges and universities, from Harvard, Amherst, Penn, USC, UIUC, NYU, Georgetown to Colgate, and other great institutions.

Ned Scott Laff – He has over 30 years of experience in college and university settings helping student design successful undergraduate experience. He was Director for Advising at Augustana College and Director for the Center for Engaged Learning at Columbia College. He has served as Director for Academic Program Development at Barat College of DePaul University and as Associate Dean for Curriculum at Mundelein College of Loyola University Chicago. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in English Education and Educational Policy Studies. He has taught both English and Honors courses and has broad interests in liberal arts education, the quality of undergraduate education, and the role of academic advising in liberal learning.

Marsha Ray – She is a longtime educator and has lived and taught in three European countries where she resided for 17 years. As a result, she speaks fluent Italian and French. Upon returning to the U.S., she became an adjunct professor of English at DePaul University, where she also was co-director of the University’s International Studies Office. She brings an informed and unique voice to study abroad advising and has extensive knowledge of UK universities. Marsha is located in Deerfield but has served students from all over the U.S for over 18 years.

Jeanette Spires – She has a background in college counseling, career counseling, and school psychology with experience in the United States and in American high schools in India and Argentina. She earned a degree in counseling in higher education at Pennsylvania State University. For 35 years she has worked as an independent counselor, earning an additional master’s degree in school psychology. She has given many professional presentations at national conference in the areas of college selection, transfer counseling, and therapeutic placement. She has done contract work for The College Board, served on the board of SAGE Global Education, and is currently a commissioner for the American Institute of Certified Educational Planners.

Matthew Kenenitz – He is a seasoned high school teacher and college professor of 12 years. He is an Advanced Placement reader for the Educational Testing Service, and he also scores for the SATs, ACTs; he serves as a Chief Scoring Leader for the Texas state assessment in writing. Through his experiences in teaching and scoring standardized testing, Mr. Kenenitz has a strong working knowledge of the skills students need to succeed both in the classroom and when taking exams. Matthew also has great strengths in brainstorming, reviewing, editing, and assisting in the revision of college admission essays as well as resumes and completing the college application. He produces results with private tutoring in understanding English literature and Philosophy as well as assisting students with developing their thought process and writing skills.

Prenicia Clifton - She has worked with Cornerstone Education for two years and gets very high remarks from the students she helped. She focuses more on the students’ college preparation in her advising session. Ms. Clifton is skilled in helping students in college essay preparation, giving them mock interviews , getting ready their resumes , and most importantly writing them recommendation letters. All her efforts encourage them to attend diverse school activities and striving to improve students’ total grades. As for students in Grade 11, she will specifically advise them on their college prep planning, summer camp application, standard tests schedule, etc. Her working philosophy is to prepare students to become an excellent leader in the colleges. She always has very high expectations towards her students and is very strict with students’ involvement, which separates her from other same college preparation counselors. Her secret of helping her students be successful in the U.S. is her passion for education.
